Charity and Development Appeal

02-04-2024Weekly ReflectionFr. Fred Adamson

Dear Parishioners,

This is Charity and Development Appeal kick off weekend. This annual appeal is an opportunity or invitation for us to participate in funding many charitable and educational apostolates in a collective way as Catholics in the Diocese of Phoenix. I can attest that these funds truly make a difference to the charities, schools, and parishes that receive them. All of them continue the mandate of the Gospel to serve those most in need and to teach the Good News. I personally give and would invite you to also consider a gift in whatever amount you discern. I find that supporting the CDA helps me to be connected beyond the day to day parish. Thank you for your generous support of various ministries and apostolates. Together we make a difference.

Lent is approaching in less than two weeks—Ash Wednesday, February 14th starts the journey. We are inviting parishioners to be part of the Best Lent Ever—Renew and be Saved, through a Eucharistic Consecration that begins on Ash Wednesday through Dynamic Catholic. There is an information page in the bulletin and we will be promoting the renewal on our webpage and social media.

The Bishops of the United States have called us to a Eucharistic Renewal. I think that renewal begins the hearts of individuals and in parishes. We encounter the Lord in the Eucharist and it changes us. So this Lent in conjunction with Dynamic Catholic we have an opportunity to grow in our understanding, love and faith in the Eucharist. I wanted to give you time to prepare as there is a book and journal that you might want to use as well as daily videos that you can sign up for at www.dynamiccatholic.com/lent. We will have 100 books and journals available on the weekend of February 10/11th for a suggested donation of $20.00 or you can go on line to order yours today.

Throughout Lent 2024, we will share opportunities to grow in our encounters with the Lord and one another. Stay in touch through Flocknote, the Webpage and social media.

For now let us live in these remaining days of ordinary time focused on the Lord. Asking Him to assist us in keeping our day to day lives ordered always to His will. In the simple actions and encounters is where our holiness lies. Ordinary holiness...Ordinary lives. May our days be filled with gratitude and humility.

Peace, light and wisdom in Him,

Fr. Fred
