Appreciation to the Parishioners of St. Bernard of Clairvaux,

It is almost three years since I started my ministry here at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish. First, I would like to thank all our parishioners for your love, patience, and care for me throughout my years of service. I am also grateful to Fr. Straley for allowing me to experience what parish ministry is all about. I also thank Fr. Fred for supporting me in various ways as a brother and assuring me that St. Bernard’s is my home parish. Thank you, Fr. Fred, for opening your doors for me to be a son of this great parish.

My years of service at St. Bernard’s were joyful because of the collaboration and love of the parishioners. My new appointment to another parish is bittersweet. When the Bishop asked me to become a pastor of another parish, I almost wanted to say no, but I know that my new assignment is a call to serve God’s people on a larger scale. I willingly accepted the appointment and said, “Here I am, Lord, send me.”

I will never forget to thank the parishioners of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, the birthplace of the Maria Africa Foundation, for embracing the Foundation, which started as a way to support some vulnerable people of Ihitte-Uboma, Nigeria. Your generosity means a lot to me. I pray that you will receive a prophet’s reward. I trust that the Maria Africa Foundation will continue to thrive with the blessings of Fr. Fred and through the assistance of some dedicated groups of volunteers here at St. Bernard’s. Your contributions empower and change the lives of some vulnerable people in Ihitte-Uboma, Nigeria. I request that you continue to maintain your support, and please help me spread the word about the Maria Africa Foundation so that it continues to grow and provide for more children each year. Thank you again for your kindness and support.

Please keep me in your prayers as I begin my ministry at the Resurrection Catholic Church, Tempe. I invite you to join us for the Holy Mass any day that you are available. I will reserve the front seat for you. I am praying for all of you and your loved ones.

Fr. Simon
