Third Sunday of Advent

12-11-2022Weekly ReflectionFr. Michael Straley

I know many of you are asking about the Rectory project, so I want to bring you up to date. Due to the Covid crisis, as I said earlier, we paused our meetings and fund-raising for a while. In September we began to look again at the project and where we stood. We are through the City of Scottsdale and are almost ready to pull permits. We do have one more meeting with the diocese to look at our finances.

In terms of fund-raising, we started “all over” since most of the cash we raised was spent, as promised, for the church air-conditioning. We still have well over $300,000 left in pledges that are still coming in. In addition, we have met with a number of individuals and have received additional significant pledges of $100,000 or more. Fr. Simon and I continue to meet with those who wish to pledge larger gifts. With the end of the year approaching, if anyone would like to meet with us concerning tax-deductions you need or required deductions from retirement funds please give Fr. Simon or I a call.

We expect to meet again with the diocese and update all of you in January and go to a more public phase in our fund-raising. In addition, we hope to break ground early in 2023.

Thank you for your generosity and for your patience. More will be coming to you soon.

Praying for a Blessed Advent,
Fr. Mike
