Dear Parishioners,

After a weekend of much-needed rain, it’s wonderful to see the sunshine return and to feel the cooler air settling over the Valley. It truly feels like fall has arrived in the desert! The rain reminded me how essential water is for all life. For us as Christians, water is also the sacred sign through which God brings us into His divine life. In Baptism, through water and the Holy Spirit, we are washed clean of sin, reborn as children of God, and called to live in newness of life.

We continue our journey through the Gospel of Luke, we’re invited once again to reflect more deeply on what it means to live as people of faith. Last week, Jesus reminded us that faith—even as small as a mustard seed—has the power to do great things. This week, we are called to cultivate another beautiful virtue: gratitude.

October is here and what a spiritually rich month it is in the life of the Church! These early days of the month are already filled with heavenly celebrations: we began with the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux on October 1st, followed by the Guardian Angels on October 2nd, and St. Francis of Assisi on October 4th. These saints—and the angels—remind us of the depth and beauty of our Catholic faith and of our belonging to the great Communion of Saints.
