Founded in the United States in 1882, the Knights are named in honor of Christopher Columbus. The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest fraternal service organization whose principles are Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Membership is limited to "practical Catholic" men aged 18 or older. The St. Bernard of Clairvaux Council 12313 has over 140 "Brother" Knights.
