Dear Parishioners,
The month of May is upon us, a beautiful time in the life of the Church when we honor our Blessed Mother and give thanks for the gift of our own mothers. I invite you to make a simple but powerful commitment this month: pray the Memorare each day for peace- in our hearts, our families, our nation, and our world.
This beloved prayer, traditionally attributed to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, reflects a deep confidence in Our Lady’s loving intercession. We are blessed to have its words surrounding us in our church, a constant reminder of her care:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help,
or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
May we come to know more deeply the love and protection of our Blessed Mother throughout this month.
Next weekend, we celebrate Mother’s Day. Novena cards are still available this weekend if you would like to enroll the women in your life, living or deceased, in nine days of prayer. These intentions will be placed on the altar and remembered at every Mass. It is a meaningful way to honor those who have shown us love, strength, and faith throughout our lives. The First Holy Communion children will Crown our Blessed Mother at the 9:00 AM Mass – a beautiful tradition in our Church.
We also look ahead with joy as our Class of 2026 begins graduation celebrations. Our parish Baccalaureate Mass will be held on Sunday, May 17 at the 11:00 AM Mass. All graduating seniors are warmly invited to attend and process in wearing their cap and gown. As a parish community, we look forward to recognizing you and praying for you as you begin this next chapter. Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can properly welcome you.
I am also pleased to share that construction of the new rectory has begun. The projected timeline is approximately 12 months. For more than 32 years, our parish has relied on rented housing for our priests. Having a rectory on campus will be a meaningful and visible sign of the presence of our clergy among us. Thank you for your continued support and generosity in helping bring this important project to completion.
Finally, as we continue through the Easter season, let us remain rooted in the joy, peace, and new life that come through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. May this season renew our hearts and strengthen us in our mission to share the Good News with all.
Easter blessings.
