Eucharistic Procession

Dear Parishioners,

This weekend. we celebrate as a community with the Harvest Fest on Sunday afternoon. It is a time for us to be together to enjoy the goodness of life. Good wholesome fun, family and friendships brought together because of our common faith in Jesus and His Catholic Church. This all culminates as part of our Mission Engagement focus.

Thank you to everyone who returned a card on Commitment Sunday, for those who have mailed or dropped them off to the office and for those who are still praying about your commitment. The generosity of the families of the parish help us to witness the love of Jesus in countless ways. It is good to be grateful and celebrate the harvest of His good works as a community. We do it Together in Christ.

This past week, we presented the rectory project to the Bishop’s Building Commission – this is an important step of the approval process so we can begin building the rectory. We will now work with the City of Scottsdale to pull building permits with a projected start at the end of January. Your generosity to the Building our Spiritual Home Campaign makes this possible, thank you, yet another thing to be grateful for in our community. I will keep you posted as we move closer to actually moving dirt!

You might notice the readings at Mass turn towards the end times as they always do this time of year as the liturgical year comes to an end. The readings are what the Church refers to as apocalyptic, and are meant to bring a sense of urgency to conversion, repentance and change; while at the same time being filled with hope! Trusting that when we give our lives to the Lord and His ways – He will provide the strength for any tribulation we face. God protects His people; therefore, let us strive to be among His people by drawing close to Him in thought, deed and actions. We are called to allow His love to dwell in us.

Next weekend is the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe or Christ the King. A special day to remind us that we have one King and it is Christ our Lord. World rulers will always fall short and can only offer temporal and temporary solutions to a world beset with human weakness and sin. God our Savior is the only means to true peace. After the 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses, we will have a Eucharistic Procession with our Lord and King around our parish campus. This procession reminds us that He leads us not only when we are in Church but also in our interactions with the world in daily life. When we receive the Eucharistic Lord, we receive a divine indwelling and are called to carry that divine love into the world. The procession is a reminder that we carry the Lord to the streets we travel. To our homes, work place, to our places of business and recreation; He desires to be with us on the journey and for us to be a witness of His love.

This past month has been full of times of prayer, education and celebrations in our parish. Thank you to all the members of the community who have leaned in and embraced the missionary zeal that is alive here at Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Parish.
